book cover redesign: digital painting

The book cover redesign is inspired by the book 'Wicked Lovely' by Melissa Marr; which follows a fictional romance story between faeries and humans.
The original cover displayed a pair of hands holding a flower and covered in a dusting of snow. The story goes through seasonal changes so the redesign is set in a drier environment, such as autumn. It uses a warmer colour palette and makes use of digital painting to depict the main character.
There are hand-drawn vines to add texture and contrast from the orange tones of the background and the purple tones of the character design.
A script font is used to add to the mystical and fictional intentions of the story which further sets the tone of the book and its contents.
